Challenge Overview
In today’s digital-first environment, agencies provide the most value by helping users navigate choice paralysis through personalized, real-time consultation. This shift ensures the user’s vision remains the focal point, positioning the agency as an essential partner in an increasingly complex travel market.
Paradoxically, the digital tools meant to simplify travel planning often make the process more overwhelming. For users who value their time over tech-navigation, travel agencies offer a human touch that software cannot replicate. This challenge tasks students with redefining the agency’s role, ensuring they remain flexible, responsive, and inspiring partners. The goal is to optimize the whole customer journey, where bridging the psychological and communicative gap between the traveler’s vision and the agent’s interpretation is most critical.
Impact
This workshop empowered students to tackle real-world problems while honing their communication and teamwork skills. In exchange, Alidays gained valuable brand exposure and a high-speed R&D cycle characterized by unbiased insights and high-fidelity prototyping. Crucially, the workshop provided a “live” look at a talented pool of students, serving as a strategic talent-scouting opportunity for the company.
Industry-wide, travel agencies must embrace human-centric design to move beyond the role of traditional providers. The workshop has proved the need for responsive, personalized, AI-driven support in order for travel agencies to not only inspire users in the pre-trip phase but also continue delivering further tailored and relevant content in the follow-up of their customer’s travel.
